Course overview

This five-day, in-person course in Evia, Greece provides an immersive introduction to Greek herbal traditions, focusing on medicinal plant identification, preparation, and aromatic use. Through guided fieldwork, hands-on formulation, distillation, and discussion, participants study seasonal Greek medicinal herbs and compare them with selected Chinese materia medica. Instruction includes oils, tinctures, teas, oxymels, creams, soaps, and essential oils, as well as practical applications such as compresses, inhalations, and foot baths. The course integrates permaculture principles, sensory plant engagement, clinical perspectives, and safety considerations, using lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and case-based discussion.
