Course overview

The process of swallowing is complex, and many health conditions can affect it. Dysphagia is a condition that makes it hard to swallow food or liquids. It can lead to malnutrition, dehydration, and aspiration. Dysphagia puts people at risk during meals. This course introduces learners to dysphagia. The course teaches learners about dysphagia's signs and symptoms. Also, it teaches ways to avoid aspiration while swallowing and feeding. The goal of this course is to inform non-licensed direct care workers about dysphagia and strategies to prevent aspiration.
