AKATHISIA IS A NEUROPSYCHIATRIC SYNDROME THAT CAN OCCUR AS AN ADVERSE EFFECT OF ANTIPSYCHOTIC MEDICATIONS AND MANIFESTS AS PSYCHOMOTOR RESTLESSNESS. IN RECENT YEARS, AKATHISIA HAS ADDITIONALLY BEEN FOUND TO OCCUR IN CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AS AN ADVERSE EFFECT OF WITH CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKERS, ANTIEMETICS, ANTI-VERTIGO DRUGS, COCAINE, AND SEDATIVES USED IN ANESTHESIA. THIS ACTIVITY REVIEWS THE EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT OF AKATHISIA AND HIGHLIGHTS THE ROLE OF THE INTERPROFESSIONAL TEAM IN THE RECOGNITION AND MANAGEMENT OF THIS CONDITION.
