CELIAC DISEASE, ALSO KNOWN AS GLUTEN-SENSITIVE ENTEROPATHY, IS AN AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE OF THE SMALL INTESTINE. CELIAC DISEASE IS A CONDITION IN WHICH THE BODY RESPONDS TO GLUTEN WITH AN INAPPROPRIATE IMMUNE RESPONSE CAUSING SMALL INTESTINAL INFLAMMATION AND DAMAGE.
