Course overview
What is a medical error or near error and how serious a problem is this? This course defines and relates the seriousness of medical errors and near errors. It emphasizes the importance of developing, following and adhering to better protocols in improving patient safety and reducing medical errors. It describes how to recognize error prone situations, populations most at risk, error prevention and reduction strategies including root cause analysis. It also distinguishes safety needs of special populations and encourages patient education toward error prevention.
