Integrating Trauma-Infomred Services through Shelter Guidelines

Course overview

While shelter settings provide an important opportunity of safety for residents, living in shelter is a difficult expereince that represents unique challenges for survivors. It's vital to routinely evaluate program policiies, practices and everyday procedures to ensure that every survivior receives proper support. This interactive training identifies core values and philosophies of advocacy including trauma-informed care, harm reduction strategies and voluntary services. Participants will learn how to align values with policies and explore their connection to daily practices of shetler services. They will also identify common challenges and solutions to implementng low barrier rules while supporting shelter residents and staff. The trainer is Nora Mosby, Member Services Specialist with the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. The virtual training is from 9 a.m.-noon EST on July 25, 2023.
