CCTN: Pre-transplant and Preoperative care

Course overview

This course is part of a series for nurses preparing to become a clinical transplant nurse. Certified clinical transplant nurses (CCTNs) play a critical role in assisting patients throughout the various stages of the transplant. Pre-transplant evaluation, waitlist management, and preoperative care require knowledge of various tests and waitlist requirements. In addition, immediate identification of end-stage organ failure allows early referral to a transplant center, thus improving survival outcomes. This course will discuss pre-transplant evaluation testing for all organ groups, general waitlist management strategies, and preoperative care.
