Course overview

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic disorder involving an abnormal immune reaction to specific components of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The two primary forms of IBD are Crohns disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). In the U.S., approximately 3.1 million people have been diagnosed with one of these two forms of IBD (CDC, 2022).
