Addressing Behavioral Health Needs of Veterans

Course overview

Veterans are at high risk for behavioral health issues but do not always get the treatment they need. Healthcare professionals need to have a clear understanding of the ways military experiences and culture can affect the health and well-being of veterans. They should also be aware of the best approaches to address the behavioral health needs of veterans. The goal of this course is to provide addictions, behavioral health counseling, case management/care management, marriage and family therapy, psychology, and social work professionals in health and human services settings with information on ways to address the behavioral health needs of veterans. This course is an overview of ways to address the behavioral health needs of veterans. Search the Relias library for in-depth information about specific diagnoses, target interventions, and models of care (e.g., multicultural, trauma-informed).
