Medication Abbreviations, Orders, and Labels (Caregiver)

Course overview

This course provides a general overview of the basic principles and procedures of medication administration. Caregivers will gain a deeper understanding of this issue and those paraprofessionals who are allowed by state law to administer medications will review vital information and add to their knowledge base. Objectives: Identify at least 5 commonly used medication abbreviations. Demonstrate where to find pertinent information on a medication label. Demonstrate how to set up a medication label. Describe four important components of a medication order.
