Crisis Management Approaches for Telehealth Services with Children and Adolescents

Course overview

Among children and adolescents, rates of behavioral health issues needing crisis management have increased in recent years (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services [SAMHSA], 2022). Telehealth offers a feasible and sometimes preferred way to help youth manage crises (Holland et al, 2021). This course reviews strategies and steps to help providers support children and their families throughout crisis management. You will learn to proactively ensure their safety, intervene when crisis occurs in session, and follow up via telehealth to support the continuum of care. The goal of this course is to provide knowledge to addictions, behavioral health counseling, case management/care management, marriage and family therapy, nursing, psychology, and social work professionals, and physicians in health and human services settings to manage crises when delivering telehealth services to children and adolescents.
