Substance Use Treatment in Rural Communities

Course overview

Individuals in rural populations experience unique challenges that impact substance use patterns, treatment needs, and access to services to address substance use. This course will provide an overview of approaches for improving the efficacy of substance use treatment in rural communities. The goal of this course is to help addictions, behavioral health counseling, case management/care management, marriage and family therapy, nursing, physicians, psychology, and social work professionals in behavioral health settings with the knowledge of how working with individuals from rural backgrounds differs from other settings.
