For school-aged children, engagement in meaningful occupations occurs at the interplay of the student, the context, and the occupation. OT practitioners can support meaningful engagement by assessing and addressing occupational performance including sensory-motor aspects as it relates to the school environment and then creating a Sensory-motor Smart Environment that best meets student needs for positive outcomes. This course will present assessments and interventions for students, classrooms, and buildings that will create Sensory-motor smart environments for students in the school setting. Target Audience: Occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy studentsThis occupational therapy continuing education course uses the following instructional methods: visual aides (ie slides), live discussion, discussion board, guided note taking, and learning, and practice opportunities Presented by: Vera Gallagher, OTD, OTR/L, BCP
