Course overview

CAH and PPS swing bed programs must understand the reason behind the initiation of swing beds and the reliance on understanding skilled nursing regulations to operate and financially manage the program. This first course provides historical, operational, regulatory, and management basics to review, both by existing SWB programs and those thinking about initiating swing bed services. Suggested audience: COOs, CNOs, CQOs, CFOs, Administrators, Case Managers, Therapy and Nursing If you have any questions regarding this course, please contact hthtech@hometownhealthonline.com. Upon completion of this presentation, you should be able to: - Describe the history of and reason for swing beds. - Recall swing bed basic operations and program management. - Identify considerations for building, rebuilding, starting or restarting a swing bed program. Learning Outcomes Standard: Based upon Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Swing Bed Providers guidelines, and hospital based skilled nursing and swing bed program best practices.
