The Sinews: Unsung Heroes of Trauma Recovery
Tracking # 20-1085318
Course overview
When we are aware of how we feel, we can work towards a greater understanding of why we feel that way. In this 2-hour introductory lecture we will look at the Sinew channels from 2 perspectives; first as the interface with the world outside. They are protectors of the inside against toxic or overwhelming input. Secondly, as the unsung heroes of trauma recovery. Their capacity to hold trauma as tension, restriction and habituated bracing allows us to maintain sanity in the face of trauma. Somatization of emotional pain means we are less overwhelmed emotionally. If we can free these channels from their habituated states, not only can we relieve pain but also change perspective. Free the body, free the mind. How we hold ourselves in the world influences how we see things and how we think about things.
