Assaults and Violent Acts is the number two cause of workplace fatalities and the number one cause for females. Employers are required by OSHA to protect workers from hazards which can be chemical or biological, but even from violent acts. Employers should identify the risk of physical or emotional harm which can lead to fatal injury, nonfatal injury, or threat of injury which can lead to medical treatment, missed work, lost wages and decreased productivity.
