Falls Prevention in LTC

Course overview

Preventing falls is a top priority for resident safety, quality of care, organizational quality reputation, and cost-avoidance. Resident falls may result in injuries such as bruises, lacerations, fractures, intracranial bleeding, and even death. To decrease the incidence of falls in the long-term care setting, an interdisciplinary team approach with standardized procedures and customized resident interventions is needed. This activity addresses elements for inclusion in an evidence-based falls prevention program.
