Course overview

This two part course offers 8 hours of AGD PACE and ADA CERP approved credit, which satisfies the DEA's MATE requirement of 8 hours of Opioid education before renewing your DEA license. Part 1: (3 hours) discusses the impact of opioid abuse, how to minimize the use of opioids in dentistry, information on prescribing opioids, and the use of opioids in dental practice. Part 2: (5 hours) deals with the opioid epidemic itself. It discusses the causes of the epidemic, the progression of the epidemic, the role or doctors and dentists, alternatives to opioids for pain control, and an actual plan to fight the epidemic.
