Course overview

This is a training on deprescribing medications for nurse practitioners. The training includes prerecorded training modules and utilizes simulation. The training will occur in two phases: a pre-recorded presentation and a simulation exercise. The pre-recorded content will cover. Polypharmacy and deprescribing overview, Review of tools and resources about deprescribing approaches (i.e., Beers Criteria, Screening Tool to Alert Treatment/Screening Tool of Older Person Prescriptions (START/STOPP), Specific drug class to target for deprescribing, Simulation exercise with a real-life scenario of an older adult with polypharmacy. There will be 3.33 contact hours awarded for completing the deprescribing training.
