There has never been a more important time for hospice, specifically hospice physicians, to understand the implications of the determination of relatedness. Relatedness and medication coverage are hot topics in paybacks and auditing. The big question is, What should we be paying for? This lecture is designed to cover the details of determination of relatedness, something that is imperative for hospices to be doing correctly in order to provide excellent quality hospice care but also to avoid unnecessary financial penalties down the road. CMS statements regarding relatedness continue to reference that the hospice should provide virtually all care. This webinar will address who should be making this determination and how this determination should be reflected in the clinical record. The Patient Notification of Hospice Noncovered Items, Services, and Drugs, or the Hospice Addendum, in addition to other documentation required surrounding the determination of relatedness, will be addressed. The goal of this course is to provide nurses and physicians in hospice with knowledge of determining and communicating relatedness to hospice care.
