Course overview

This course includes the contents of a Dental Office Management course for dental assisting or dental hygiene students. The course includes the syllabus, power point presentations, class activities, course projects, and case-based quizzes and exams related to basic office management techniques. These include policy and procedure manuals, verbal and written communication, ethics, financial arrangements, insurance, phone technique, and electronic dental records. This course also includes information on creating a cover letter, resume, and an electronic portfolio for use in job searching. The entire course is placed in electronic format on flash drives for each course attendee. (A copyright agreement must be signed to receive the flash drive) The instructor will direct course attendees in the methods of teaching dental office management concepts to students. Ways of simplifying the topics are clearly explained so that seasoned and novice educators will be well prepared to deliver the information in their own courses.The course can be applied in conjunction with any of the dental office management textbooks currently available for dental assisting and dental hygiene education. Class limited to 30 participants
