Course overview

Stroke Rehab 107, Splinting Applications, is a 2-hour course designed for the clinician interested in splinting applications for the patient following stroke. This lesson begins with a review of splints commonly used with patients following stroke. Examples include, but are not limited to digit abduction splint, cones, air splints, spasticity reduction splints, wrist splints, resting, tone and positioning splints plus many more. Considerations for prescribing and designing each splint will be reviewed along with a comprehensive process for decision making. Splinting applications will also include general splinting guidelines as well as guidelines for splint fabrication. At the end of this lesson, the learner will have a comprehensive understanding of a variety of different splints that can be used for a patient following stroke depending on the intervention strategy and treatment goal. Upon successful completion of answering 10 interactive, multiple-choice questions, the learner will receive a certificate of completion for .2 AOTA eligible CEU?s.
