STROKE REHAB 108 - ADL ADAPTATIONS: MANAGING THE ENVIRONMENT WITH ONE-HANDED TECHNIQUES

Course overview

Stroke Rehab 108, ADL Adaptations: Managing the Environment with One-Handed Techniques, is a 1-hour course designed for the clinician working with stroke patients with an upper extremity impairment who are in need of one-handed training for ADL and IADL activities following stroke. This lesson will review basic environmental considerations such as safety, ease of functional mobility and performance within a variety of environments in which the patient will perform. A variety of ADL techniques encompassing grooming and hygiene, feeding techniques, upper extremity and lower extremity dressing along with instrumental activities of daily living including kitchen activities, laundry, communication, the use of adaptive equipment, plus more will be covered in the lesson which focuses on adapting to the environment using a variety of one-handed techniques. Community-based activities will also be covered in the lesson. Case studies will be used to highlight key points and clinical applications. Upon successful completion of answering 5 interactive, multiple-choice questions, the learner will receive a certificate of completion for .5 AOTA eligible CEU?s.
