Identify the financial impact for insured and non-insured patients diagnosed with cancer Describe the normal cell development. List each phase of the normal cell cycle. Understand the factors that impact the development of abnormal cells. Compare and contrast the difference in cancerous and malignant cells. Identify the non-modifiable and modifiable risk factors for developing cancer. Compare and contrast the most common cancers found in the United States (prostate, colorectal, breast, lung and skin). Understand the recommended screening guidelines to prevent cancer. Identify the common signs and symptoms of cancer. Identify and discuss the common diagnostic labs and tests completed on a patient with suspected cancer. Understand how cancer is graded and staged. Identify the psychological impact of a cancer diagnosis for the patient and family. Compare and contrast the various treatment modalities of cancer (surgery, chemotherapy and radiation).
