Course overview

Whether swelling is from a chronic condition or from an acute condition, it has a negative impact on the progress, patient participation, and outcomes of our therapy. When therapists assist patients in the management of swelling, through direct hands-on treatment or the referral to a specialist, there are improved functional outcomes and overall recovery. Having the skills to utilize the lymphatic system to treat swelling and pain will give you a set of unique and effective skills that will separate you from other therapists and significantly improve patient outcomes. This course will provide you with a basic knowledge of the lymphatic system, manual therapies, and a variety of other treatment options for swelling/lymphedema in any population/setting. Throughout this course, you will see examples of positive outcomes using lymphedema therapy for a variety of conditions. With the completion of this course, participants will understand the benefits of lymphedema therapy and will have the skills to implement basic lymphedema treatments. Recourses will be provided to increase patient engagement and training for more improved outcomes.
