Course overview
New required 8 hour course. The purpose of this course is to provide clinicians who prescribe or distribute opioids with an appreciation for the complexities of opioid prescribing and the dual risks of litigation due to inadequate pain control and drug diversion or misuse in order to provide the best possible patient care and to prevent a growing social problem. Prescribers must understand requirements for all controlled substances. This course will provide a general overview of federal and state-controlled substance regulations and the prescribing practices for controlled substances. Additionally, substance use disorders are complex phenomena affecting many lives. Other areas of discussion include EPCS and PDMP, common substance use disorders.
