The Basics of Phlebotomy
Tracking # 20-1101020
Course overview
Phlebotomy involves obtaining blood samples via venous puncture or surgical opening for biologic analysis in the clinical laboratory. If sample collection is poorly executed, the results may be inaccurate. This misinforms treatment decisions and/or leads to the patient having to undergo multiple needle sticks. This course presents evidence-based practices for venipuncture that improve outcomes for patients and clinicians.
