Course overview

Diagnostic criteria are consistently being updated within the mental health field. It is crucial that clinicians stay up to date with new diagnoses when supporting clients. The DSM-5-TR has added criteria for a new disorder related to grief, Prolonged Grief Disorder. This training will educate clinicians on the major differences between the DSM-5, DSM-5-TR and ICD-11 grief-related disorders. A comprehensive overview of the criteria for Prolonged Grief Disorder will be examined in this training. Providing care for clients who are grieving can be a struggle for many clinicians. Training and skills can greatly influence the grieving process of a client. In this training, we'll explore diverse grief models and therapies, including the Companioning Model, Dual Process Model, Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy, and several others. This training will leave clinicians feeling confident in providing a grief-related diagnose and a better understanding of diverse grief models to help guide treatment planning. Clinicians will walk away with grief-related coping skills and interventions to better support clients who are grieving. This workshop will empower and guide clinicians by providing a framework to understand how to effectively help clients manage the grieving process.
