Advocacy Skills Interactive Workshop: Youth Inclusion, Equity and Trauma-Informed Advocacy

Course overview

How we servc the youngest domestic violence survivors matters. Diversity, equity and inclusion require that domestic violence programs embrace children and teen survivors as truly deserving of services. Partnering with the parent is as much a part of inclusion as is working with their children. Building relationships with youth, respecting their uniqueness, validating their lives and honoring their journey are vital to building community and healing. Participants will explore prinicples of equity within service design, youth spaces and youth interactions. This virtual workshop is on February 22, 2024 EST from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Trainers are Kim Kaiser, Director of DEI at Families Together in New York State (FTNYS) and Director of Programming and Peer Support at the Color of Autism Foundation and Yaniel Wynter, the DEI Youth Engagement Coordinator at FTYNS.
