Course overview

Modern mental health research acknowledges that traumatic experiences underlie many common pathologies and that skillfully engaging traumatic material is crucial to the healing process. In many settings, clinicians are expected to have a sound theoretical understanding of trauma and its effects as well as a¿toolbox of practical interventions so that they can effectively guide their clients through the challenges of resolving the effects of traumatic stress. This course is designed to provide participants with a foundational understanding of the theory and neurobiology of trauma treatment and ideas for the next steps in developing clinical skills in trauma processing. This course will Prepare participants for further training or collaboration with EMDR, trauma focused models such as Internal Family Systems and Somatic Experiencing, or trauma-informed clinical supervision. Introduce a palette of foundational theories and techniques for working with trauma in the clinical setting. Normalize healing from traumatic stress as an innate and intuitive process.
