Antibiotic Stewardship for Hospitals
Tracking # 20-1112460
Course overview
Antibiotic-resistant (AR) organisms are a serious problem in healthcare, and their rise has been linked to the inappropriate prescribing and use of antibiotics. Antibiotic stewardship programs (ASPs) have been developed as a response to AR infections to guide the best antibiotic practice and reduce the emergence and spread of resistant organisms. Antibiotic stewardship is a movement that aims to treat this powerful group of medications resourcefully by implementing antibiotic use with evidence-based practice. All members of the healthcare team are called upon to be stewards of antibiotics so that these medications can continue to be used to fight infections in the future.
