Total Hip Arthroplasty is a common surgical procedure for those patients with pain and loss of function. This program will review relevant anatomy, indications for surgery, surgical considerations and implications for physical therapy in total hip arthroplasty, hemiarthroplasty and hip resurfacing. Various surgical approaches and the associated research around precautions will be presented along with current evidenced-based rehabilitation principles and specific treatment strategies. Recent trends towards same day discharge will be discussed and case studies will integrate concepts into practice.
