ALCOHOL ABUSE AND DEPENDENCE (4 CE)

Course overview

The prevalence of problem alcohol use is high, with more than 13% of the population having a drinking problem in their lifetimes. This course explores three empirically-supported interventions for alcohol abuse and dependence: behavioral couples therapy + disulfiram; cue exposure treatment; and community reinforcement approach. Learning Objectives: 1. Review a description of alcohol abuse and dependence, including a definition of symptoms, onset, and prevalence rates. 2. Compare behavioral couples therapy + disulfiram, cue exposure treatment, and community reinforcement approach to various treatment alternatives. 3. Review a description of the important steps and techniques for each treatment intervention.
