Course overview

In a recent study, the prevalence of Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL) reported in children under 28 weeks of gestation was 39.6%; 27.4% in children under 32 weeks and 7.3% in children under 37 weeks. When working with children with a birth history of prematurity, therapists need to understand the neurological impairments and resulting functional limitations of PVL in order to provide specific treatment interventions. Participants who attend this course will be able to understand why children with PVL struggle with balance and apply the principles of balance to their treatments for immediate results with their patients.
