Course overview
Participants will be able to name the differences between compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout among social service professionals, will be able to list risk factors for compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout both related to the clinician and related to the work environment, will be able to describe tools to utilize in supervision to build protective factors among supervisees to help prevent or reduce compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout with a focus on stigma reduction of personal therapy, will be able to state the difference between healing involvement and stressful involvement, and recognize the role of intersession experience, in order to reduce risk of worker burnout, and will describe interventions to reduce stressful involvement within three categories: transient difficulties, paradigmatic difficulties, and situational difficulties.
