Laws and Rules for Louisiana Acupuncture Professionals

After completion of this course, genetic counselors should be able to:

1. Understand and apply the provisions of the Acupuncture Practice Act (law) of the state of Louisiana.
2. Understand and apply the Board’s rules pertaining to the practice of acupuncture.
3. Understand the requirements and mutual responsibilities involved in the supervisory relationship between a physician acupuncturist or licensed acupuncturist and an acupuncture detoxification specialist.
4. Understand and apply the basic ethical guidelines underpinning the practice of acupuncture in the state of Louisiana.
5. Know where to go and what to do in the case of an impaired professional whether self or other.
6. Understand the procedures the Board follows upon receiving a complaint about an acupuncturist.
7. Understand the investigation and adjudication processes if a complaint leads to a formal investigation.
