Course overview

Documentation 201, Payment, Policy and Coding, is a 1 hour course designed for the clinician in need of a review of current regulations, payment policy and guidelines in the US relevant to therapy in order to maximize reimbursement. This course will review a variety of aspects related to payment, policy and coding including; defining third-party payers, describing Medicare policy and key elements needed for documentation, a review of Medicare guidelines for the process of documenting skilled therapy services, a list of components of documenting evaluations, progress notes, treatment notes reevaluations and discharge summaries. A review of the ICD-9 and CPT codes used for billing and payment will also be discussed along with a summary of guidelines that will enhance payment for services and minimize denials. Upon successful completion of answering 5 interactive, multiple-choice questions, the learner will receive a certificate of completion for .1 AOTA eligible CEU’s.
