Mentorship is an active partnership between mentor and mentee that is characterized by mutual growth, personal and professional development. Effective mentors are not born overnight, but learn from each unique mentoring experience and adapt to the specific needs of their mentee. They are available, knowledgeable, and nonjudgmental while simultaneously motivating, supporting, and challenging. This course will provide current and prospective mentors with practical strategies to navigate common challenges faced by mentors and mentees. Modules will detail methods to build trust, establish expectations, and provide effective feedback. Mentors will be given the tools improve the interviewing, patient management and clinical reasoning skills of their mentee and understand how to structure an effective mentoring session.
