Elder Abuse: Recognition & Documentation

Course overview

The purpose of this course is to identify and describe the six common forms of abuse and how patients currently suffering from one or more type of abuse might present to nursing and clinical staff. This course will also discuss documentation needed. Suggested Audience: Nurses and Clinicians (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, and Psychologists). Identify the six types of elder abuse. Identify indicators of elder abuse. Identify prevalence of elder abuse. Identify risk factors for elder abuse. Learning Outcomes Standard: Based upon current literature review by CINAHL Nursing Guide, and best practice standards set forth by the CDC, NIA, and NAPSA.
