PMH-BC: Legal and Ethical Issues

Course overview

The goal of this module is to provide nurses with the information needed to provide legally and ethically safe psychiatric care. Topics in this course will cover current mental health laws, such as treatment and medication refusal, restraint and seclusion usage, confidentiality, and psychiatric commitments. In addition, this course will explore ethical concepts such as informed consent, nursing practice principles, and psychiatric advanced directives.
