2010 Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures provides a statistical resource for United States data related to Alzheimer's disease, the most common type of dementia, as well as other dementias. This includes definitions of the types of dementia and a summary of current knowledge about Alzheimer's disease. Additional sections address prevalence, mortality, caregiving and use and costs of care and services. Learning Objectives: 1. Evaluate the statistics on the number of Americans with Alzheimer's disease nationally and for each state; women and men with Alzheimer's and other dementias; lifetime risk for developing Alzheimer's disease. 2. Delineate the number of family caregivers, hours of care provided, economic value of unpaid care nationally and for each state and the impact of caregiving on caregivers. 3. Evaluate the impact on use and costs of health care, long-term care and hospice care for people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. 4. Evaluate the number of deaths due to Alzheimer's disease nationally and for each state, and death rates by age. 5. Gain knowledge of the current prevalence of Alzheimer's and other dementias in diverse populations.
