By the end of this course, the learner will be able to: define cultural diversity and cultural competence; identify emerging themes of cultural competence in healthcare; explain how ethnicity, diversity, and religion impact cultural understanding; evaluate cultural competence concerning the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, plus) community; explain the role of cultural competency in age-specific populations; apply cultural competence to those with physical, intellectual, developmental, and mental health disabilities; and discuss the role of cultural competence in veteran care delivery.
