This program will provide nurses with information about the risks, benefits, and therapeutic ramifications of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) as it relates to people with newly diagnosed and long-term diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. After you study the information presented here, you will be able to: Describe the role of EUS in the evaluation and staging of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and the indications for and limitations of an EUS, identify the educational needs of patients preparing to have an EUS, describe the role of the nurse during EUS procedures.
