As the prime directive of life is the creation of new life, the ovarian and testicular produced sex hormones, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, are typically seen by the public and by health care professionals as solely important for sexual functioning and reproduction. But reproduction is viewed narrowly, rather than seen as involving every organ system working in optimal unity. Successful reproduction requires that the entire person is optimally healthy, including the cardiovascular, immune, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, genitourinary systems ... as well as an optimally functioning neurological system! Human reproduction necessitates supportive relationships, love and bonding, and critical thinking for survival to enable a substantial longevity, facilitating multiple prodigy to be conceived, born, and raised to their sexual maturity. Sex hormones should be renamed as life hormones, acknowledging their enormous contribution to the healthy functioning of every bodily system, with a keen recognition of their vital involvement in both cognitive and emotional health, which will be detailed in this presentation.
