OPIOIDS ARE MEDICATIONS USED TO MANAGE AND TREAT PAIN, COUGH, OR DIARRHEA. THIS ACTIVITY OUTLINES THE INDICATIONS, ACTIONS, AND CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR OPIOIDS. THIS ACTIVITY WILL ALSO HIGHLIGHT THE MECHANISM OF ACTION, ADVERSE EVENT PROFILE, AND OTHER KEY FACTORS PERTINENT TO THE INTERPROFESSIONAL HEALTHCARE TEAM MEMBERS IN MANAGING PATIENTS USING AN OPIOID AND IN LIGHT OF THE OPIOID CRISIS.
