Course overview

One of the most challenging tasks you will face when caring for people living with dementia is addressing their behaviors. However, this task can become more manageable if you understand how to communicate with people living with dementia. Effective communication is the key to understanding and addressing many of the behaviors a person living with dementia exhibits. This course discusses how dementia affects a person's ability to communicate. It also discusses the communication techniques you can use to support and address behaviors in people living with dementia. The goal of this course is to educate direct care workers in post-acute care settings on how to communicate with people living with dementia.
