Updates in Pediatric Dentistry for the Active Child, Part One

Course overview

This pre-recorded self-study course will be the first part of a two part lecture highlighting various topics of pediatric dentistry for the active child. The presentation will be structured in four age groups of children covering ages 0-18 years.   This first part will cover the very young patient (0-2 years), preschoolers (3-5 years) and a significant part of early school age (6-12). The goal of these talks is to update dental professionals as to how the pediatric dental specialist understands certain topics. The largest area to be discussed for the active child will be primary and permanent dental trauma. In addition we will cover very early feeding difficulties and frenectomy treatment, how to provide a valuable experience at the age one dental; visit, and pulp therapies for both primary and permanent teeth. We will talk about pacifier use and the important area of screening for airway difficulties and sleep disordered breathing. This will bring non pediatric dental professionals up to speed on many topics but it will also be valuable for pediatric dentists, hygienists and staff who can put what they do in a context of what others are doing. Kids are great, full of life, energy and fun. This talk will put what is done by pediatric dentists into how it fits into the world of these wonderful children.
