The Benefits and Risks of Glucocorticoid Drugs

Course overview
For decades, glucocorticoids (GCs) have been used to treat immune-mediated diseases. Rapid and powerful immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory properties make them key therapeutic agents for autoimmune diseases (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis) and life-threatening crises such as asthma exacerbations. However, the value of GCs is shrouded by a veil of toxic effects that can lead to severe morbidity or mortality. This course provides nurses and pharmacy professionals with knowledge of the benefits and risks of glucocorticoid drugs.
