Pressure injuries are the breakdown of skin integrity over bony prominences due to persistent pressure. Most often, pressure injuries are preventable and have become a significant concern to healthcare providers. This course discusses current practices on the assessment, prevention, and interventions for pressure injuries. Having a basic understanding of the structure and function of the skin will help you identify and report changes in skin condition and improve the quality of an individual's life. The goal of this course is to educate nurses in post-acute care settings on the assessment, intervention, and prevention of pressure injuries.
