Course overview

As healthcare knowledge and practice advances, providing care becomes more complex and complicated. As we get better at treating chronic conditions and age advances, more people have chronic wounds and more ethical issues develop. It becomes more difficult to finance advanced care and decide where to draw the line. There comes a time where providing comfort becomes more important than healing wounds. Finding that right balance is critical. Caring for chronic wounds involves a team approach so that all aspects of care are addressed. Wounds can be treated with the best and latest therapies, but if nutrition or blood sugar or depression or social determinates of care (such as having an appropriate home, assess to care, cultural considerations) are not addressed, wounds may still have difficulty healing. This seminar will help assess wound and set priorities for care, then establish a team to best provide evidence based, up to date care for the best outcomes.
